Sauna etiquette

Welcome to Olosauna!

Please take a moment to read through this guide before your visit.

Changing rooms

Olosauna has separate changing rooms for women and men.

The sauna (steam room, “löylyhuone”) itself is shared by all guests and swimsuits are worn.

What to bring

We want you to arrive without unnecessary baggage.

Your sauna ticket (€28) includes a towel, seat cloth, shampoo, and still or sparkling water.

A swimsuit is required in the steam room.

If you’d like to cool off on the dock, bringing your own sauna slippers can be a nice addition –
especially in winter. The dock is not heated and may be a bit slippery.

Sauna peace

In Finnish tradition, “saunarauha” (sauna peace) means giving space for both
silence and meaningful conversation – without pressure.

Many Finns come to the sauna to enjoy stillness and be quietly with themselves.
Leave room for your neighbour.

At Olosauna, throwing water (“löyly”) on the stones isn’t a competition.
Do it with awareness and consideration for others.

Photography is not allowed in the changing rooms or the sauna.
Please leave your phone in your locker during your sauna experience.

If a conversation in the sauna drifts toward politics, religion, or other emotionally charged topics, please remember to keep your tone respectful and considerate of everyone present.

In sauna, we are all equal.

Sauna Drinks & Respectful Village Sauna Culture

At Olosauna, you are welcome to take your drink into the sauna or out onto the pier. Finns have a well-earned reputation for enjoying a sauna drink — but fear not, we trust in a shared sauna etiquette where drinks are enjoyed with good taste, healthy moderation, and respect for others.

Olosauna is open for sauna-goers of all ages, so we all take part in keeping the village sauna culture safe and enjoyable. If the atmosphere becomes too rowdy or someone gets too tipsy, our staff may have to guide them out.

Bringing your own beverages is not allowed, but our selection offers a variety of options for every taste and occasion. Drinks taken into the sauna should be enjoyed from a can or a reusable cup.

Respect the shared space

Shower before entering the steam room and use a seat cloth.

The sauna is a shared space – thank you for helping us keep it clean.

Children in the sauna

Olosauna is for everyone – children included. Children under 12 are warmly welcome with an adult.
The age limit for entering the opposite gender’s changing room is 8 years.

At Olosauna, children are allowed to be children. But for the sake of sauna peace and safety, please make sure there’s no running or wild play in the sauna areas.

Please note that we do not offer lifeguard services. Children are welcome to enjoy
time on the dock under the supervision of their adult.

Session length

One sauna session lasts 1.5 hours.

To fully enjoy your reserved time, please arrive early rather than at the last minute.

If the sauna is at full capacity, kindly free up your locker on time for the next guests.

If there’s plenty of space, we won’t count the minutes. You may stay and enjoy the sauna for up to 30 minutes after your session ends – at your own discretion.

Enjoy your time and welcome to the warmth!
